“The best bread in Toronto. So happy they are in the east end now. Owner is a fantastic force who works harder than 99.9% of the shop owners I know. Very clean front and back of house. Also...That lemon tart is one of the greatest things in Toronto. 5 stars!”

“This place is a true gem. I've going here for over 10+ years. I would always drop by for some Portuguese pastry or sandwich for lunch when I would volunteering or visiting galleries. Friendly staff, welcoming space - nicely renovated. All sorts of treats from Portugal. I personally LOVE their shrimp patties (they now have beef and salmon too which is so so yummy). Their french toast is heavenly. I always make sure I have room for their fresh buns. And you have to try their custard tarts and meringues. Support local! Great community shop.”

“Love how this amazing little coffee shop has pivoted its business model during the pandemic - skating to where the puck is going. It was always a neighbourhood hub -- tables filled with coffee/tea drinkers reading and working and meeting each other for a quick chat. Now, the lineups outside are testament to the quality of its coffee and baked goods and they sell wine for takeout!!! On its way to becoming the neighbourhood bodega in the NYC model. Friendly service. A Roncy 'hood gem.”

“I ordered the assorted cupcake box from Pastel Bakes and loved each and every one of their flavours. My favourites were the Strawberry Lime and Red Velvet. The Strawberry Lime was quite unique. I have never had this cupcake before but I must say it was the perfect blend of sweet and sour. And the Red Velvet was one of the best I had so far, it was extremely rich in flavour. I would definitely recommend them to all the cupcake lovers out there!”

“I bought a foccaccia, meat calzone sandwich which were both awesome. Rum baba was flavorful and had a nice rum kick to it. The sponge was nicely soaked with some sort of orange flavor to it. Paris brest was good too had a nice texture filled with some peach sort of compote. The arrancini was good. Although everything was great, the cashier who rang in my order grabbed the foccaccia by the part exposed instead of grabbing it by the wrapped part. She seemed upset when we called her out on it and didn't replace it. Who knows what she's touched being in the cashier section with covid happening.”

“We happened to be walking by and just had to stop in this beautiful bistro. The lady working at the front was lovely and helped us pick out some treats. We decided on two super cute cupcakes, birthday cake and coffee flavoured. And I'm still dreaming about the coffee one! So moist, not too sweet, and the perfect amount of icing. The birthday cake was also good but the amount of icing was a bit overwhelming for myself. I definitely will be back to try more items!”

“The bread is fantastic. I love the spelt loaves for avocado toast or a fancy spread. Their pre-sliced sandwich bread is my lunchtime go-to. Since the pandemic started, I’ve been shopping their pantry items, and I must say, I love some of the products they carry (in particular, an olive oil that is incredible in salads). As of late, there is always a lineup outside (don’t be dissuaded, it moves quickly). That speaks to both the quality of their bakery, and how seriously they take the safety of their customers. I applaud them for continuing to enforce physical distancing.”

“I love their shortbread. I've been getting it for years from the One of Kind show and ordered more this year (2020). My favourite is the cheddar and chipotle (amazing).”

“Incredible donuts! I’m lactose intolerant and my partner can’t eat dairy or gluten. I had the pack of six (2 of each delicious flavour) delivered for my partner’s birthday and they were such a hit that even the lactose and gluten-friendly young adults in the house gave them 10/10! A perfect match of moisture, flavour and freshness. Thank you!”

“Did a walk up cupcake special...and so thankful I did. Cupcakes are unreal. Cake was super tasty and moist...and icing was creamy and not super sweet. A new favourite at this house. Can’t wait to go back!”

“I ordered the valentines letter/cookie set for my Kids - They loved breaking them open and the little notes inside were awesome. The cookies were delicious - are usually find those sort of store-bought cookies with icing too sweet but these were unbelievably soft and fresh and delicious… I highly recommend ordering anything you will not regret it although I will warn you they are hard to stop eating ?”

“Best Brownies in Toronto. Think moist, chewy, subtly sweet and perfectly fresh on the day. A proper hearty square with good depth and not overwhelming. Service here is also excellent, especially with Yamani behind the counter, highly recommended. For 'Best Bakery in Midtown' this has got to be up there on the list”
