“Nice and private, but the local conservation officers will ticket you if you use ATV's between the park and trail less than half a km up the road. Be warned. We were under the impression we could come and go from the park as the website listed it as "easy atv access". Other than that we had an amazing weekend out there, even with the firebans. Staff that come through were great, place is clean and well laid out.”

The trek through the narrow canyons cut by the water is beautiful. The views from the valley is stunning. No wonder its such a popular hike It's also a short drive from Calgary.”

Girl Guides of Canada Camp Mockingbird

Address: Waiparous Valley Rd, Bighorn No. 8, AB T0L, Canada

Campground Lodging Park Point of interest Establishment

“This camp is a fabulous facility. It's an easy drive from the city and even the gravel stretch of the road is well maintained. There are 3 site with buildings and bunks, 2 with buildings without bunks (use tents), and one tenting only site. The camp is charmingly rustic, with outdoor latrines and propane lights and stoves. No electricity. All the sites have lots of space between so even if they were all in use your group would still have lots of space and you wouldn't be on top of anyone else. The large size of the property, and the fact that it is surrounded by crown land, means there is a lot of scope for activities. On site you can hike up Little Buck hill and play wide games in the meadow. You can easily go off site to hike up the fire lookout near by, or walk 10 mins down to the shallow Wiaporous river to wade and play. The site is great for both summer and winter camping.”

Sibbald Lake Provincial Campground

Little Elbow Campground

Address: AB-66, Bragg Creek, AB T0L 0K0, Canada

“The camp sites are large, full of trees thus lots of privacy. Even busy you feel alone and it is quiet. I was there during the labor long weekend and though full I felt I had my own privacy. Lots to do around here, excellent spot for hikers. The river is accessible and the mountains are spectacular. I discovered a little gem, next time I'll come here instead of Kananaskis. Highly recommend.”

“Really nice. The road is bumpy but it's worth the drive. Unfortunately my first date I took there didn't like it so I'm still single. I don't think I'll take another date here. I think the part with the bear attack was what did it. Take bear spray. But not first dates. Maybe a third or fourth date.”

Etherington Creek Provincial Recreation Area

Address: Kananaskis, AB T0L 1H0, Canada

Campground Lodging Park

“Most of the campsites here are by reservation only. They have a few first come first served. If you didn't book a campsite, the place down the road is less busy and is all first come first served. Other than that it is overall a pretty nice campground with friendly helpful staff. I would recommend this place if you want somewhere very secluded.”
