“This place is a must see! It's a hidden gem. We had a tour of the museum by Jane. She's very knowledgeable and knows all the stories behind each animal there. I highly recommend visiting this place, especially if you have kids. My kids said this was the highlight of their day. The pioneer village was closed due to heavy snowfall. Another reason for us to be back!”

“Put this on your travel itinerary! This museum will surpass your expectations of a small town museum! The array of animals from around the world will blow you away in the Wildlife Gallery! The number of interesting buildings including the trappers cabin and schoolhouse should surprise and delight visitors. This is even better than some National Historic Sites. The Metis Nation Alberta section was well done too. I hope the local schools utilize this gem. A feather in the Sundre cap!”

“Pretty cool area, was nice reading up on the history of Fort Calgary.”

“Great little museum. Has some really interesting displays explaining the history of grain and farming in Alberta. There's a great model train display showing grain being shipped to the coast which highlights some creative ways they built the railroad to get through the Rockies. Definitely a good place to bring kids to get a sense of how this aspect of Albertan agriculture functions. There are some practical displays that kids will enjoy and the staff member who was there at the time did an okay job of trying to make things interesting for our kids. The staff member didn't seem to care too much though as we were only a family, not a school group, so it felt like they didn't want to invest much effort in things. I'd say it's an interesting museum where you could spend up to about an hour exploring the history of grain.”

“Cool fort in Heritage Park. Lots of old times stuff. Lots of wood that that was used to build this fort. A lot of history behind the Hudson’s Bay Company and you get a good feel of what it was like a couple of hundred years ago. The staff is friendly and informative.”

“Very interesting sculptures. Morton Burke, artist and property owner gave a tour and explained the sculptures and told us about the different artists that created them. About half of the sculptures are now placed in Olds, for a greater public to enjoy these.”

“What a pleasant surprise this little stop was! This was a destination on a car rally we were on and was it ever a fun stop! There are various areas detailing Carstairs' agricultural history complete with a milkable imitation cow, old vehicles, old grain elevator artifacts and an original old house you can tour through. Glad we stopped! Would definitely go back to tour it more thoroughly.”

“The nickel galleries always have thought provoking work that takes up the space, encouraging you to move and explore with the work. The carpet makes it so you can't hear your footsteps, which takes you into the world of the artwork. The upstairs galleries offer amazing opportunities for smaller exhibitions. I love the staircase which let's me view the work below from another perspective. It takes the standard 5 seconds which people look at art and expands it as they explore and recognize something new about it. It's free to enter, they have free lockers to hold your bags and the shop is always full of lovely work to buy.”
