“Great area, sites a very well trees which helped with the shade. River is absolutely amazing. however it appears most sites are to narrow for modern trailers with slide outs. There is also a lot of over hang branches over the roadways. Amazing staff, we will definitely be going back to camp again.”

“Very pleased :) . My first visit was only an over night stay; but I immediately impressed with the overall layout of the campsites, the cleanliness of the playground, the sandy beach and the clean bathrooms. After just a few hours I knew I wanted to book a campsite for the following weekend. Sheldon was most accommodating; my site was everything I wanted and more: -reasonably priced, away from traffic, quite, peaceful, picturesque, safe, near to the beach, easy access to water and parking in proximity to my site. The bonus was seeing a deer with her young taking a leisurely stroll without a care in the world. We had a special treat in the afternoon - a food truck came in with freshly made warm mini donuts and 8 flavours of ice cream...All I can say is THANK YOU Sheldon and I can hardly wait until next summer... Cheers”

“The great outdoors. A place to learn, grow, and educate, and explore. It is the exploration that is easily my favouriite part, and as I teach my Granddaughter about the forest and all the plants and critters that share it, the great outdoors will continue to be her place for exploration and learning into the future. JJ Collett is an excellent, and very close place for introducing our new generations to the outdoors. The trails seem endless, and the landscapes are ever changing. If you have the opportunity to visit, you won't be disappointed!”

“Very nice campgrounds. Could have better high spots for tents in the rain. People that are in the office are very friendly and lots of the campers are there yearly so they know each other and are very welcoming of new faces. Will most likely return to this campground! 🤗”

“One of the best little campgrounds I’ve stayed at in Canada! Very friendly and accommodating host that had no problem with me arriving pretty late in the evening. The washroom facilities are super clean and they have free showers. Will definetly come again on my way through! Highly recommended!”

“Absolutely beautiful private camp grounds. Some friends of ours invited up for a visit and we were very impressed by the lake and amenities. The snack bar is awesome with great deep fried food and pinball games for the kids old and young.”

“Great place for family bonding, fishing and interact with a few wild animals, everything has monetary value either for rent or you buy, but that's the only way we can help them maintain the zoo. We had a wonderful time all in all, the staff and people who work there are friendly and accommodating.”

“Fun place to camp. Right on the water. We stayed at the bottom of the hill and it was really nice but a touch challenging to get into. I fit into it with my 18' camper.”

“It’s been 2 years since I start coming to this beautiful place. I am so excited and happy when I am there. Everything is so clean and near: Gull Lake- 2 minutes, store - 2 min, Forest - 2 minutes, playground- 2 minutes. Thank you Mona so much for your help. You are very nice lady and I very appreciate everything you do for me and my family. This is the best place for my family!!!”

“Good group site, quite a lot of trees to have a bit of privacy. Clean bathrooms, good signage, lots of trash bins. I was not a fan of the massive fire pit, too deep for anything except a bonfire and no other options in the site. Super quick lake access, rocky with driftwood (others is our party went to the ‘beach’ area and boat launch but I can’t speak to it). Staff was out a couple times to check in and do maintenance upkeep which was nice.”

“Hi All, we visited a good friend who has a trailer site here. The lake was created behind the Dickson Dam a hydroelectric project site about 30 years ago. Nice lake, rather deep right away from shore; the beaches are just as rocky as they are sandy. There is a great hiking and biking trail around the entire lake. The recreation areas are very well maintained. Most of the recreation areas are privately owned; the few open camping spots have toilet facilities but not showers and there are no power hook ups. Better for day trips than longer stays. However, it is Alberta,so it is beautiful. Enjoy.”

“The park is a good midway point between Edmonton and Calgary, making it an excellent place to stop and stretch your legs. The creek seems very fun to float down as well. Amenities such as picnic tables are available close to the river. But be advised, parking is very limited.”

“Loved this place! Spacious and great for families! We showed up with a RV too big for the lot we reserved (rookie mistake). The lady in the office was amazing! Never did get her name sadly, but she had a British accent. Even though they were fully booked, she accommodated us in an overflow lot that ended up being better than what we reserved anyway. When we got home, I noticed I had a few cards missing from my phone wallet case. She phoned me a day later and told me she found them and she'd mail them out for me. The little things are everything. I'd highly recommend!”

“This is a nice place if you're wanting to go camping. But I would suggest going elsewhere if you want a beach/lake. When we chose to go here, we were thinking because it is called Johnson's Beach that it would be a nice beachy place with a decent lake. There is a beach that was probably very nice 20-30 years ago when the water level was higher. The lake does look very nice, but when we asked the owner if there was a place we could go into the water, he advised us against it. Getting into the water you would sink your feet into a bunch of muck which would make you want to shower right away and you wouldn't enjoy the lake. The campsites are decent sized, fire pits at each campsite, but no grills on the pits. The day use area fire pits have grills on them though. They have fire wood available for you to buy. The trees and grass are very well kept. They have beautiful flowers up by the main office where they also have a little mini golf setup. They also have horseshoe pits. It is a nice place if you're looking to get out of the city for a few days. Not very busy, so it is very peaceful. They have washrooms with toilets, sinks, and coin operated showers. Potable water and camper/trailer dumpsite in the front area as well. Really decent price as well. The owner/caretaker of the place seemed like a nice guy as well. We did enjoy our stay. It is a nice place as long as you're not wanting beach/lake.”
