“Haven't camped here but done lots of hiking here. Good waterfalls to be seen. Some faces to climb with bouldering nearby. Lake is great. Clean and clear water. Decent beach and handy little business selling treats and food like burgers and fries. Gets a tad busy during summer and weekends but usually always room to enjoy if you get there at a decent time.”

“We wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city and finding this campsite last minute was a gamble. We decided to book for two weeks for partial hook up. Prior to booking we called them and asked for internet speed as we both had to work on line. They kindly checked the speed and we figured it will be good for us. The full hook ups on the top are a little bare and gravelly, but where we are at the lower level is very nice. Not a lot of trees on the site, which make them nice and bright and spacious, the sites are huge, so you have lots of space. If you want to be in the woods then this campsite is not for you. But if you want the quietness and vastness of just being in the presence of crickets, beautiful bees, and occasional hummingbirds this is a perfect spot. The staff are so amazing, the bathrooms are super clean, the campsite is not fully booked which I personally like because it feels like we are surrounded by quiet field. It is only 15 minutes walk from town, the river is literally 5 minutes walk over the bridge. This is a hidden gem, and as much as I love for it to remain hidden from those who wrote stupid reviews and complained about petty things, but I like to see it busier, because I want these guys to be able to thrive so I can come back here again. ♥️ 💖 ❤️. At the moment I am sitting in the sunshine and sipping my morning coffee and loving this place.”

One Spot Trail

Address: 3388 Cessford Rd, Courtenay, BC V9J 1R6, Canada

“Built on an abandoned rail bed this is a flat, easy walking trail. Good signage is provided, both for directions and for history. Much of the trail passes by small farms so you may see various animals and/or farm work in progress. For the most part this is an out and back trail system, however it is possible to walk one section of it as a loop, which should take about 3 hours.”

“2 of the best business' owners I know they work with any one. I have been in and out as life changes for me and they always find a way to fit me in I have been here like 20 times in 26 years in my life to live here. On top of that they do well with my mother who struggles with socialization and they always find a way to make it work out. She can be hard to work with when angry but they find a way. The residents will go the extra mile to help u out just give them a chance. Don't let looks of old rv make u feel different the locals recycle, reuse and repair anything a example of close community's. Just remember to drive slow because dust is a issue on everything and children play lots. Resident much appreciate it. Who knows maybe u will make a friend for life here.”

Number Six Mine Park

Address: Cumberland, BC V0R 1S0, Canada

Park Point of interest Establishment

“Nice place for a quick stop, but be forewarned: if you are here and see a young kid with a stick and a bandana, you have to take it from him. He has been sprinkling No-No dust all over the park visitors and sending them to dark places. He goes by the name of Quill and is faster than a jack rabbit to be chased by an even faster jack rabbit. The boy has beautiful, awkward marine eyes that lure you into his nightmare. He appears kind and gentle, but I assure you, he is the farthest thing from it. If he does encapsulate you into his rotten little world, hold on tight; you are in for a long night, and once you return to reality, things may not be the same. Be weary, intrepid travellers.”

Coastal Sands Resort

Campground Lodging Park Point of interest Establishment

“Great place to stay, clean and friendly, the cabins are so nice and its so close to the beach. The owners are so helpful, laundry on site, keep the place tip top. At night when the sun sets, the sky is just amazing for star gazing, walk down to the beach and meet some locals or other travelers, have a fire and listen to the waves roll up the beach. When the tide is out, walk river to river along the shore and hunt for shells and other treasures.”

“My partner and I had the privilege of staying here during our winter break, and wow aren't we glad we did! We got so much more than we bargained for. Between the enchanting sauna and lake access, the beautiful (and challenging) disc golf course, and the freedom to roam around the farm, we ended up having a wonderful getaway. The rural setting is relaxing and quiet. The guesthouse had lots of room for living, a well equipped kitchen, and a very cute and comfortable loft for sleeping. Will be back for sure! Thank you!”
