Though I am equidistant from several clinics, Dr. Tom, his front office, as well as other the DVM staff at Country Animal Hospital are always my first and only call when I need anything medically related or relevant for either my dogs personally, or guests. From prescriptions, consultations, appointments, or just advice which I often ask when trying to determine the best course of action to take with a guest who I am unsure about the best way to proceed, no matter how big or small, they always have time for me. “Amazing staff! I called on a Saturday concerned about my cat, they were fully booked and after explaining what was happening with my cat, they got me in! Thankfully they did because my cat was on the verge of death. They gave him emergency surgery, and IV fluids for two days afterwards, the staff was so friendly and understanding!! I couldn't recommend them enough. Huge thank you to the staff for saving my fur baby and being so friendly! I seriously can't thank you guys enough!”

“Extremely helpful animal hospital here in Invermere. We found this cat outside a restaurant in Radium , and they told us he has been there a few weeks and comes to asl for food. They had put up posters everywhere , but no one came back for him. At the hospital, they checked his Micrchip, but the number listed had changed hands, and there was no way to contact the owner. “We don't normally leave reviews online, but wanted to do so for Sheena because we were so impressed! We found Mountain View Kitty Cottage online when looking for somewhere for our one year old cat Gus to stay for four days while we were in Tofino over xmas. Gus had never even spent one night away from us prior to staying at the cottage and so we were very nervous about our trip. Sheena helped us through this by sending us regular updates and pictures (and even a video) of how he was doing (see below for just a few of the pics of Gus during the stay). She took the time to get to know his personality and treated him with love and care even though he is slow to warm with strangers and he can't always give much back. We were able to relax and enjoy the holiday knowing he was safe and well cared for. The cottage is very clean, new, and bright inside with lots of large windows. The cat rooms have tall ceilings and look a lot like our house at home- with vinyl plank floors and a regular house door (with a window in it), a window sill to lounge on. There are little cat doors between rooms and since the room next to Gus was empty Sheena opened the adjoining cat door so that he had two rooms and two windows. She didn't charge us extra for this, and she even gave Gus a little bag of presents (which he loved) to celebrate Christmas. Sheena was super communicative and fast to respond to messages. Drop off and pick up times were flexible. When we had to change the time we picked up Gus because the roads were getting snowy and we needed to leave earlier than expected, she was nothing but kind, understanding, and accommodating. Thanks Sheena! We will be recommending this business to anyone looking for a great place for their cat to stay. -Gill and Ryan”

Most recently one of our horses got injured, and they have been there via text and call, every step of the way - with suggestions and solid advice, until our appointment. “I wish I knew the name of the Vet Tech that took my girlfriends panicked call at 6am on Monday morning. My 17 year old dog, Gunner was having very scary symptoms suddenly. They included twitching, confusion, wincing in pain, etc. After a thorough breakdown and analysis of the symptoms, the vet tech guided us through which could have been mild post-seizure, or post-stroke conditions. We were in a panick, ready to say our goodbyes, but the call made us calm, collected and put our minds at ease. Everything went perfectly afterwards, Gunner recovered rapidly and I cannot be more grateful to which ever amazing female vet tech took our call.”

It was a major surgery where part of our pups jaw was removed but she deemed it urgent and squeezed us in at the end of the week before she went for holiday (they book months out as her speciality is rare) she was overbooked with 3 surgeries that day also and went home at 10pm to help us - The passion she has for her work is inspiring, the whole team works extremely hard and we’re forever grateful for their service and expertise. “Last week I had to make the hardest decision, to allow my sweet senior pitbull cross over the rainbow Bridge due to old age and more importantly failing health. The staff at Stave Lake Vet were incredibly supportive and understanding. They took ink prints of Lucy's nose and Paws for me and gave me a beautiful card that the whole staff signed and wrote words of kindness and support. She was incredibly helpful, and informative, she provided me with options and always wanted what was the best outcome for both Lucy and myself. Whenever I had questions she did her best to answer them and if she didn't have the answer she found resources that would guide me in my research. She understood how hard this end of life journey was and was always supportive, kind, patient, and non-judgmental. I will take my time to grieve and most likely won't get another dog/pet for a few years, but once I adopt a pet into my home again, I will definitely be returning to Stave Lake Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Christine Smetschka.”
