Amazing customer service! Super friendly and accommodating.
We ordered a combo plate which offered more than enough food for 2 people. The wonton soup was the best I've had in Canada!
Due to Covid, they have only been serving take out. They have an organized system that keeps people from entering the building to pick up orders and they bring the order out to you.
Would be a great option for a to go lunch that could be eaten while sitting on the grounds of the fort, overlooking the water.
Not your regular North American style Chinese food... so much better and seems more authentic. Good quality ingredients cooked for great taste. We live right nearby and keep going back for more.
For some reason this restaurant had a bad reputation a few years back, maybe previous management? All I know is the food is excellent, love the general Tao chicken! It's also unusual to get fresh mushrooms in fried rice, a welcome surprise. Now they've added lemon chicken to their menu, looking forward to trying it next time.
Just like a Hollywood movie set of an authentic Charlies Restaurant. Chinese restaurants were the staple of America. Half the Chinese population from a specific region in China immigrated due to political unrest and famine. Charlies Place has original Chinese American Food we only hear of these days in old movies like familar sweet n sours and egg rolls. They also have stir fry dishes with meat and veggies as well as yummy noodles. My fav go to for Chinese Food when we go to our cottage.
Americanized or Canadian Chinese Food brings memories of the first Chinese immigrants who came to work on the railroads in 1880's and stranded due to immigration blockades and lack of employment opportunities they opened laundries or restaurants. This type of cooking takes local ingredients and re-creates a fusion- what is modern day gastronomy. This type of food is long gone in big cities but Charlie's Place gives you a sense of nostagia at a great price- my sweet and sour chicken balls transported me back to my early days in New York City who loved Chinese food.
