“Very happy with the service here at Robins in Cheticamp. We wanted to get a small bit and a coffee during our Cabot Trail. Had a big line up, but they served us quickly. Employees were very calm and polite. Coffee and the sandwich were good.”

“We had a very nice lunch here. The food tasted amazing and the staff were very friendly! They had a kids menu with crayons and good variety (10$ including dessert). So many cake desserts to choose from; I would recommend lemon cake! Wonderful seafood chowder and fish and chips. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place :)”

“We stopped for ice cream and ate outside. Great sized portions, and perfect for a hot day. It was nice to have soft and hard serve options :)”

“Good restaurant with a splendid window view to a cliff across the water. The interior decor was lovely and perfect for a date night setting. The lobster was finger licking good. I spent a good 30 min dissecting it and enjoyed every last bit of it. Take note this is one of the more popular restaurants in the area, definitely recommend having a reservation for this place”

“Enjoyed a dinner there. Service was a bit slow to get my order but good afterwards. Seafood chowder was thick & creamy, very good. Fish cakes were also good, side vegetables a bit blend but used chutney & tartar sauce to give them a bit of taste..”

“Everything was amazing - traditional plates with an elevated twist. The restaurant interior was lovely, and they have a dining section that overlooks the water. Service was incredibly pleasant. A wonderful last meal on our vacation.”

“Such a cute little spot that's open decently late. Lots of comfort food options but particular shoutout goes to the donair. The outdoor beer garden is a great touch”

“I stopped in for a meal before the Celtic Colours concert and I was not disappointed. Although very busy, I was seated quickly and the service was excellent. I opted for the Roasted Vegetable Pasta Puttanesca. It was delicious. The veggies were fresh and the Puttanesca sauce was rich and flavourful. I'm looking forward to coming back one of these days for the music. Highly recommend.”

“Magnificent. A beautiful location made even better by the fall colours. The room was great with s nice view of the stream. Our tour of the Distillery (by Cecil) was very informative. The food at the restaurant was also excellent and quite reasonably priced. One negative was the terrible pot marked condition of the parking area. Only a minor inconvenience however.”

“Nice clean rooms, perfect view. We didn't need any service so I can't take that. Location was 30km out of our daily scenic route, but it was our only option so we tried it. We would go there again.”

“Margeri was our server. She was very pleasant and wonderful to talk with. Very informative about the local seafood scene. We had the lobster and snow crab meal. It was phenomenal. We were sat by a window and had a great view of the ocean. Although we left before the sun set, if you time it right, I imagine the view would be amazing. Will be back.”

“We orded a medium pizza, regular donair and a slice of cake. Came to about 40$, so the prices were pretty reasonable. We liked the pizza, especially the mozzarella which was nicely browned. The donair was another story though. It came on a pizza-like crust and coated in the traditional super sweet sauce that has the consistency of mayo. I'm not sure if that's typical but it wasn't to our liking.”

“The meat pie was delicious, but the portion was surprisingly small. Good gravy! I don't know why, I can't recall if the menu says this, or my expectations were just set somehow. Like some outside force whispering into my brain, the cranberry sauce will be homemade, the cranberry sauce will be homemade. It wasn't.”

“Spectacular dinner with a beautiful sunset view. Exquisite food made from very local ingredients (like locally caught mussels, salmons and halibut), some of which the chef picked himself (like wild mint) and wonderful service. Very memorable. So glad we did it. Highly recommended.”

“The food rates higher but the service is really slow. There were three in our party and we all ordered the fish and chips which were a very large, delicious serving. The fries were just right and the fish was well cooked with a crispy batter. The only problem was the homemade tartar sauce had garlic and way too much of it and the coleslaw had a bit of a kick to it.”

“Ordered a burger from Coal Miners over the holidays and wow, very impressive in size and taste. I had the mountie burger with fries which are freshly cut, the burger was so tasteful and big I could barely finish it. I made the effort to eat the burger and have my fries last, which I didn't finish. The amount of food you get for the price is so worth a stop and eat in or take out. The staff are very friendly and helpful, very typical of a small town and especially Cape Breton. Highly recommended for either breakfast, lunch or supper and evening snacks.”

“We stopped by for a snack while passing by. It's very nicely designed. Large, spacious. Tables are not too cramped. We ordered the seafood burger and the brew burger. We also tried their beer as a drink. We didn't like the burgers. The fries were pretty bad. It may be because it is close to closing hours. The beers were very good unlike the food.”

“The food and service are excellent. It's one of the very few restaurants that remain open outside of the tourist season in Cape Breton as well. But the absolute highlight of this restaurant is the sunset. You must come here to enjoy the view of the sunset! There are chairs outside as well so you can sit there and just enjoy the sun go down. Absolutely gorgeous.”

“Stumbled on this wonderful place while looking for some lunch service excellent and the food was delicious. We shared a salad with kale and mixed greens, beet, red onions, feta cheese with added chicken. My wife had the soup of the day broccoli, beet and ginger and I had the chicken club sandwich on delicious on house made bread. It was a delicious meal with great service.”

“Nice little café style restaurant with a simple menu. Celtic Music performers between 1 and 3 to entertain guests. A tiny gift shop selling Celtic ware and music CDs.”

“The food was good, the bread wonderful. I had oat bread, buttered and got a side of molasses to drizzle over it, along with fried bologna. I got excited when I could have something similar to a Newfoundland classic breakfast, but Cape Breton style. Also pictured is the remains of a buttery oat meal cake that I split with my friend James, similar to shortbread, and pairs well with jam. It was simply lovely plain. There was also a side of Skirlie, a traditional Scottish concoction made from oats, onions, fat and spices. It tasted like turkey stuffing and while a bit dense had a great flavour. I quite enjoyed the small portion served with my breakfast.”

“Very friendly service, my colleague and I were doing some work in the area and were working late. With everything else being closed they went out of their way to serve us only minutes before closing them selves. And the food was excellent.”
