“Our stay here surpassed all our expectations - the beautiful location, the relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, the great meals..but the best part was being able to just wander around and experience the sanctuary. Watching the animals enjoying their best lives by just being themselves was such a treat and an antidote to the stress that city living can bring. We especially enjoyed spending time with Cornelius, the friendliest turkey. Kat was a wonderful host- very low-key and accommodating and she gave us helpful tips about visiting the area and great places to eat. We're looking forward to returning sometime in the near future.”

“I've been coming up to Cambellford for 50 years. 🐋 And on occasion we stay at Hickory. The new owners seem very nice. I just hope u include the BBQ with the price of renting. Should b included. I am booking again. I just love this city and Hickory. Hopefully they have the cabin I want!”

“We stayed here last week and was great spot. The view was nice to look out threw patio door and then able to sit on the deck. Room was a nice size and bathroom was equipped with a variety of essentials. The water pressure to shower was amazing! And the black out blinds were a great touch! Owners where friendly also at check in! ✔ Id Definitely come back here!”

“It’s definitely a life changing experience spending the weekend here at the Maximilian retreat house. The cabins were really well constructed by Don with his own hands. The house is nice and cozy. Don is also very knowledgeable in construction in terms of structure, electrical and etc. I’m really impressed by how he architects the house and the whole system. He showed us a lot of useful tips in construction. It’s also a spiritual retreat. Don shared a lot of life experience and gave us a lot of good advice in career and in life. I’m really impressed by Don’s knowledge, life philosophy and his wisdom. The trip is also really well organized. We went fishing twice in different areas of the lake. Don and his children gave us a lot of insight into fishing and the local ecosystem. Don took us for a walk around the community. It’s quiet and peaceful. It is so healing, relaxing atmosphere and pleasant that I would recommend to everyone. I really appreciate this opportunity meeting Don and new friends here at Maximilian retreat house. Many thanks to Don organizing this trip and sharing his wisdom with us.”
