“Alex went out of his way to take my family and me on a kayak tour of Desolation Pass. We were on the last day of our vacation and didn't have a reservation. He was on his way to go out on his own, but he put his plans aside and spent a wonderful 1.5 hours hosting us through the beautiful waters of the state park. His friendly manner and guiding skills made us feel right at home (even my 4 year old daughter!). I can't recommend Alex and BBB highly enough. And just to be clear - I'm not encouraging anyone to follow in my footsteps ... if you want a tour, make a reservation ;->”

“One of the best places in the world. Super small and quaint. Would not necessarily call it a park, and beach access is minimal but a very peaceful place to sit and watch nature”

“We had an older unit, the bathtub looked really black around the drain. I think it was just the enamel eroded away but it looked pretty bad. Also, we had no air conditioning and no fan so be mindful of the weather when booking here. Other than that, it was perfect. It was low key, quiet, and a nice little continental breakfast. Nothing fancy but it was perfect for our two night stay. It's close to the ferry but be careful if you plan to walk, in the evening there's very few street lights and not really much of a sidewalk.”

The views are beautiful and the sunsets are breathtaking and the room was perfect for us. We just love this place, Oggie and the doggies. We will be back and highly recommend for couples.”

“I've camped at Bowman Bay with all of my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I love this area so much and the hikes are beautiful and easy for little ones. The Washington state park biology volunteers are great and taught us a lot about the local sea life. The tide pools are always fun to explore and it's a close place for a day trip from the Seattle area.”

“We went on 2 separate fishing outings with R&R Charters. The 2 captains, Paul and Brett, were very knowledgeable and did everything they could to help us catch fish. They were also friendly and fun to spend time with. I would highly recommend them and hope to come back in the future for another charter”

“We stopped by while waiting for the ferry to San Juan island. The staff were attentive, and service was quick. They sell Lopez Island ice cream! ???? The cookies and scones are good too...our favorite being the Royal (...something something) cookie, which had coconut, macadamia nuts, and chocolate chips! I plan on getting this damn good cookie again on our way back. ”

“We had a great time! Paul, our captain, was knowledgeable, quick witted, extremely pleasant, and really good at finding fish (although he slept a lot!!). Just kidding but ask him about that!! The whole boat caught their limit. My wife and the other folks, mother and son, had never been deep sea fishing before so it was extra special for them. My wife landed 3 of 5 and had to throw 1 back. The 14 year old young man had the time of his life!! I would, and will, do this again next salmon season, and the next year, and the next year... Do not miss this!!!”

“I did a kayak lesson with Blue Otter, it was great! Alex taught me about how to navigate currents and tides at Deception Pass. I feel a lot more confident now paddling through currents, I learned more advanced strokes, and we practiced rescues a bit too. It was a lot of fun and Alex is a great instructor!”

“For 30 years, we have chosen the Paraclete, with rare exceptions, over all other forms of transportation, to and from our Center Island home. They have hauled our family and all the STUFF that part of living on a private island, including entertaining, recreation, upkeep, remodeling, in an area that is just a step away from camping out: food and more food, kids, dogs, bicycles, kayaks, furniture, outboard motors, sewing machines, building materials, and on and on. Their service is outstanding: they help with loading and unloading with efficiency and a smile. And hey have managed over the years to be the most affordable transportation They are one of the outstanding aspects of our years enjoying the San Juan's.”

“What a fantastic experience! After a glowing recommendation from crew member Cole, we knew we couldn’t pass up the chance to see what Outer Island Excursions had to offer. Steve led us on a journey of a lifetime to see humpbacks, orcas, and plenty of stellar sea lions and harbor seals! The boat was clean, crew was pleasant (and hilarious!), and each moment was an absolute joy- even when we weren’t surrounded by whales. We will absolutely be back!”
