“FANTASTIC just what I needed ⛺️😌. I stayed in the "Free Spirited" bell tent. It was so beautifully decorated, nice breeze flowed though making for a very comfortable sleep. Everything you need was provided including quality linens, a bbq and 2 propane cook tops, dishes, pots and pans and water. We had a private beautiful path to the water where we could sit at night and gaze at the stars 🌟 specular view. I will definitely be recommending Porter's Peak to all my family and friends. Can't wait to come back and try the cabins or geothermal domes coming in the fall. This is my new getaway spot.”

“I had a great experience at this campground. Touring on bike I arrived just shy of the supper hour. After setting up tent I was preparing to get back on the bike for round trip downtown to eat. My host, Doug, would hear none of that. He figured I had biked enough. So he drove me downtown and then returned an joy or so later to bring me back. Outstanding service and support. I recommend a stay at this site - he folks are super friendly!”

Campground Lodging Park Travel agency

“Although our experience at Murphy camping on the Ocean was at the end of the season and we did not participate in the nightly fireside festivities or morning coffee at the Sailors Rest, we had a wonderful weekend. We found the owners and other guests were very friendly. The owners were knowledgeable of currents and tides as we are new SCUBA divers and were interested in taking a dive. The water was very rough but the small inlet was a good area to practice some of our SCUBA safety procedures. We didn't manage to get our scallop licences but we found a couple golf balls.”

“Best camping spot ever!! I wish I could have stayed and entire week or more!! I will definitely be coming back. The owner and employees are so sweet and thoughtful. They reply fast and will provide you all information/advice you might need. This place is right next to the water, providing an amazing view, access to swimming water and the option to rent kayaks (or use your own). Very close to many walking trails and different access spots to amazing beaches! The water is so clear and the sand so light, it feels like you're in Florida! Also, you only have to walk a few meters away from the shore and you've already got water to your shoulders!”

“Absolutely gorgeous cottages with staff (Voder, Mary-Anne, and Jack) that were extremely accommodating and friendly. The cottage that we rented was immaculate. Two bedrooms with a full kitchen and a gorgeous view from the living room and deck. We needed a cot, and they were more than willing to supply one. Small sandy beach within metres of the cottages. Laundry facilities with a small movie and book library to help with any down time. Satellite and Netflix were included. 10 minutes from Upper Tantallon, 25 minutes to Halifax, and 25 minutes to Peggy's Cove. This location was very easy to find. We look forward to returning!!! Definitely a must stay for anyone looking for a one or two week rental.”

I should mention that the bathrooms was easy to find in the dark with no flash light!. Great view. Good for kids and pets.”

“It's a fine Campground for tenting. There's lots of trees and the sites are private. My only complaint was that in the third week of September there's no heat in the individual shower rooms which are located at the back of the heated bathroom building. In the morning they were very chilly.”

Laurie Provincial Park

Address: 4949 Nova Scotia Trunk 2, Mount Uniacke, NS B0N 1Z0, Canada

“This park is lovely year round! We took our dog here for a beautiful winter walk (plus 6 in January). The best part about it is that because most of the roads are paved and the walking trails are crushed dust gravel with a small layer of pine needles on everything, my dog did not get full of mud! That is a huge plus this time of year. There were a fair number of families and people walking dogs. All people and dogs were friendly however the park is large enough that you didnt see many people. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Year round!”

Woodhaven Park Campground

“Love this campground. The owners are great and really take care of the place. I was a new camper and they helped us get settled in. The prices are a bit higher than I would like, but you get good services for the money. It is basically right across the road from the Hatfield Farm. It has a nice pool, and good washrooms. They have some wooded sites further in, and some open sites on top of the hill where you first come in, and where the office is. We chose to stay on the top of the hill and had a beautiful view of the hill and grounds of the Hatfield Farm. We got to see the farm animals, horses and cows roaming around the entire time, which made my mother very happy. Lovely views from this particular area of the campground. Our campsite didn’t have a fire-pit, but they delivered it, and they sell fairly good-sized bundles for $7 dollars each. I don’t think they sell kindling, so bring your own. I didn’t ask though, so they might. They have good bins for the garbage which we didn’t notice until we were driving out, and we had left our garbage in the washrooms. We will know better next time, and I would definitely stay here again.”

“This is a very nice campground. Close in, nice beach, super friendly staff. Easy bike ride to nearby Nine Locks Brewery and pub next door to it. Short drive to ferry for Halifax. Great shopping mall (Dartmouth Commons) also an easy bike ride. Some of the sites are not very level...we could not stay in the first site offered us but the staff worked miracles with a very tight schedule ti accommodate.”
