The atmosphere established by the instructors (most often Alex Atkinson for my practices, with others, including a young Brent taking the lead from time to time) was welcoming, respectful and fun. It goes without saying that martial arts develops incredible all-round fitness - strength, stamina, flexibility, mental acuity. I was in the best physical shape of my life when I was training. Unexpectedly I also gained from the BBI perseverance, self-control, confidence, respect for others and patience. Also, great friendships! “Gym equipment is good, atmosphere is good. Only complaint are the hours. Prior to covid they would be open till 11pm on weekdays, however since have changed to 9pm and have not adjusted back. I prefer to avoid using the gym from 5-8pm due to peak hours and equipment being used. I am also unable to use it anytime before that because I am working. There is no music in the gym, so you can hear any noise across the gym.”
