The Homestead Trail is a 10km (6.6 miles) loop trail taking you along fields with beautiful wild flowers, waterways and wooded areas of the national park. The trails are well maintained with great trail markers and signage. There are picnic tables at various places. Entry fee to the Cavendish National Park for day visit is $7,25CAD per person. “Had a really enjoyable time here. Nice facilities that were clean when we were there. I think a 4.5 is a better rating as the beach is quite rocky and hard to enjoy for swimming. That said the sandcastle making was lots of fun. Overall beautiful views, just keep in mind the trees in the area show evidence of the hurricanes that have come through. Also, check out the Sunset and Stars hike put on by Canada Parks.”

Cavendish Grove, Prince Edward Island National Park

Address: 8780 PE-6, Cavendish, PE C0A 1M0, Canada

Park Point of interest Establishment

“Walking along the path provided a lovely view of the wild wonders the island has to offer. Though the recent hurricane uprooted and damaged numerous trees along the path, the wild growth coming in more than makes up for it. My personal favorite is the glint of white along the foot of the trail that is otherwise shadowed in some locations. Sadly, some of the dunes lost much of their volume in the storm.”

“Sites are wooded with a convenient light for hookups after dark. Owner is super helpful and really went out of his way to help with a tire issue we had, and was always available. Pool looked clean although we didn't use it. Very quiet. Location is near many amenities. Not super manicured which we don't mind. Just want to mention in case this is what you're looking for.”

“I stayed here during 2023 Cavendish Beach music festival. I enjoyed my stay here. The staff was friendly, our site was big enough for three tents and two vehicles and the bathrooms were with-in very close distance to our site. The price was good and I had no problems rebooking for the next year. There was a large amount of security at all times so safety also wasn't an issue.”

Cedar Dunes Provincial Park

Park Point of interest Establishment Tourist attraction

“Nice little campground. Very laid back atmosphere and right on the water. The beach was beautiful and not super crowded. Water was very warm and a delight to swim in. Washroom facilities were inspected/or cleaned every hour so they were always pleasant. Park is dog friendly so long as they're on leash. We're many furry animals out for walks around the park. There were even a couple cats tied out at one trailer. Only downside of the park is the beating it took from Fiona. The pictures of U7 to U11 show lots of trees which are no longer there (2023). Also pay attention to the size of each site, some are significantly bigger than others. Without the trees there is no place to set up a tarp and little shelter from the winds as thunderstorms roll in. Other than that the park was great. Lighthouse a short walk in one direction and ice cream available a short walk in the other direction.”

Marco Polo Land Campgrounds and Inn and deluxe Cabins

Campground Lodging Meal takeaway Park Restaurant Rv park Point of interest Establishment Food

“Water park is really cool for kids. I was surprised to see how big it was. Lots of fun playgrounds all over the grounds. Restaurant is decent. Sites and washrooms were clean. My only suggestion would be to offer a shuttle service or even a bike rental for the people who are in RVs to get to the beach or other attractions. My wife and walked to the beach with out 6 and 1.5 year Olds. It's not a super long walk but there are big hills and I'm options to explore more of the beautiful surrounds would be another great thing to offer.”

Cavendish KOA Holiday

Campground Lodging Park Rv park Point of interest Establishment

“We really enjoyed our three day stay. Bathrooms were clean. Better seating in shower for changing clothes would be nice. Small issue. Tent sites need elevated pad or similar. We were flooded in our tent. Also numbering of lots needs to be clearer. Overall was a great visit. Staff was very helpful and friendly.”

Greenwich Trailhead, Prince Edward Island National Park

Address: 61 Greenwich Rd, Saint Peters Bay, PE C0A 2A0, Canada

Park Point of interest Establishment

“Truly one of the most beautiful places to visit while on the island. Best time to come is in the early evening for the perfect dreamy lighting, and less traffic. We seen lots of little wildlife 🥰 There’s a beach at the end, so maybe bring a towel to sit on / enjoy the views before heading back. About 2.5 km each way, easy trail / not difficult… only some stairs at the very end to access the beach. Bugs can be bad, so many cover up / bring bug spray.”

Greenwich, Prince Edward Island National Park

Address: Greenwich Rd, Greenwich, PE C0A 2A0, Canada

“One of the most incredible trails I’ve ever seen!!! A must for anyone who visits PEI. There’s ample parking and the trails are flat which makes it an easy hike. You walk through a forest, pass over a floating dock, and end up at Greenwich beach where you’ll see all the dunes. The views are just beautiful. You could easily spend 2-3 hours doing the entire route (max 5 km total). Bikes are allowed on the gravel path leading up to the forest. It’s dog-friendly up until the beach, then they can’t be on it (from April-Oct). Also restrooms are closed!”

Johnson Shore Inn

Address: 9984 North Side Road, Hermanville Rd, Rock Barra, PE C0A 2B0, Canada

Health Lodging Park Point of interest Establishment

“I traveled to PEI to hike a section of the Island Walk trail, and my introduction to this particular inn began when Dave picked me up at one of the trail connections near New Zealand. I really can't begin to fully convey the warmth and gregariousness of the Johnson Shore Inn and its wonderful owners. Mel and Dave are exactly the kind of hosts and human beings that you hope to encounter when traveling. (Their dog and cat, Jonesy and Stinky, are also a sweet pair.) The rooms are beautifully put together, the views of the coast are breathtaking, and the dinner and breakfast offerings are nourishing beyond belief. My only regret is that I could only stay one night. Since returning home, I've pretty much become a walking, talking billboard for the Johnson Shore Inn, and if you're heading to the northeast side of PEI, I highly recommend making base camp here. Ideally for a few nights.”

“Visiting Prince Edward Island National Park was an absolute gem - especially at the very beginning of October, which means solitude and silence, except for the sounds of the waves and wind. It is just a short drive from the heart of Charlottetown and is a true coastal paradise that offers something for everyone. One of the standout features of this park is its stunning sandy beaches. The golden sands stretch endlessly, making it the perfect spot for a day of sun and surf. Whether you're building sandcastles, taking a leisurely stroll, or simply basking in the sun, you'll find the beaches here to be both serene and picturesque. The sand dunes are another highlight of Prince Edward Island National Park. They are a natural wonder, rising like gentle giants along the coastline. You can hike through the park, enjoying the breathtaking vistas and the tranquil sound of the waves crashing nearby. The boardwalks in the park provide an easy way to explore the diverse ecosystems and landscapes. They are well-maintained and offer fantastic views, making them perfect for a leisurely stroll or a more extensive hike. After a day of walking, lounging, and playing in the sand, you'll be pleased to know that the park provides facilities for washing off the sand. It's a practical touch that ensures you can leave the beach feeling refreshed and clean. Prince Edward Island National Park is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring PEI. With its sandy beaches, mesmerizing sand dunes, and convenient amenities, it's the perfect place to connect with nature and unwind by the sea. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this coastal paradise for yourself!”
