“We intended to stay here one night on our way to drive the Cabot trail and it turned into 3 nights. The staff are amazing. Very friendly front desk and restaurant as well. Seafood chowder is a meal in itself. We stayed in two different cabins. The cabins are a bit dated but very clean and the beds are comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks for a great stay!”

“The building is a two level motel style stay. We had a room facing the harbour - was fairly picturesque. Room was small and cozy. Beware: walls are paper thin. You can almost hear the people next door breathing never mind flushing toilets, showers, and children... we were lucky it wasn't "more". Luckily we stayed a night here with fairly decent neighbour's. No shampoo or soap supplied. The bathroom vent fan was actually in the wall? I'd never seen this before but the thing was it hadn't been cleaned in months so it was a bit gross and also super loud. Only interacted with staff over the phone - room was just unlocked with keys provided and left after check out. Fairly clean otherwise. Good for a one night bed in cheticamp right on the main stretch.”

“Had dinner with family here and we all left very happy. I had the signature plate which I highly recommend. Others had the fish cakes, lobster roll, lobster club and the combo plate and plates were cleaned. The location is a bit out of the way but Pubnico is a beautiful fishing town. Service was good, a bit slow taking our orders but the food came quickly after that. I will be back and I will probably order the same dish, it was that good.”

“First of all Dave and Donna are the nicest people EVER! We were visiting from the states and Canadians are just the nicest people ever! Dave went out of his way multiple times to help us out. We stayed for two nights during stormy weather on a bicycle tour around Cape Breton, and what a treat! We loved the Mabou River Inn and we loved Mabou. Our room (#7) was clean, beautiful and with a very comfortable bed; bathroom was just across the hall, also immaculately clean and spacious. Laundry and a kitchenette with fridge came in handy. The full breakfast was delicious and made to order! I think we ate three meals at the Red Shoe Pub and saw music on two nights- so much fun! Great little grocery store in town and we enjoyed the beach at West Mabou park. Highly recommend this town and definitely stay at the Inn!”

“I don’t understand how anyone could rate this place poorly. I assume people expected a Ritz Carlton which is just insane. We spent 3 nights at a two bedroom three full bathroom bungalow and I will forever miss the views from our deck! The cottage was very rustic which only added to the charm! It had everything we could wish for. Beds were large and comfortable. Pillows piled up one on top of another also worked a charm. Bedrooms had air conditioning. Water pressure in the showers was great. Kitchenette had everything you need to cook a proper meal. The pool was large and clean with lots of lounges. The sunsets were spectacular! The entire grounds were something out of a movie set!!! I am so happy we got to stay here!!”

Not the fact that the fixtures might take you back a few decades. It's about all the hanging flower baskets that adorn the covered veranda that connects unit upon unit. It's about sitting outside in the rain, knowing everything is going to be okay. That's what Hedley house is about. It's not about getting rid of things, just because they're old, it's about living with the beauty of what was and being sustainable. Clean, comfortable and beautiful. “We had such a lovely, relaxing stay here. We arrived late at night after taking the ferry from Portland, Maine, but Tanya welcomed us right away. It was a cozy, pretty room with a marvelous balcony. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts and stunning sunsets there. Tanya went out of her way to make delicious gluten-free things for me for breakfast. I so appreciated it! We were able to readily visit Digby ( have scallops!) and Annapolis Royal. It’s secluded and peaceful, but easily accessible. Tanya was also really knowledgeable about all the nearby restaurants ( as well as in Halifax!), and gave us great recommendations.”

“Magnificent. A beautiful location made even better by the fall colours. The room was great with s nice view of the stream. Our tour of the Distillery (by Cecil) was very informative. The food at the restaurant was also excellent and quite reasonably priced. One negative was the terrible pot marked condition of the parking area. Only a minor inconvenience however.”

“Our glamping dome did not disappoint! Well furnished and decorated with a great view - it really is the most luxurious 'camping' experience we've ever had. Drew & Dana were awesome and the home baked cookies and muffins were such a nice touch. Very relaxing and wonderful sitting out on the deck looking over the bay. My daughter was elated to find out it was a "smart dome" with Alexa functionality throughout to turn on the lights, etc. :)”
