“This tiny museum is located just outside main Tobermory. It's steeped in history and dates back nearly 200 years. There is no admission fee but they look forward to donations. Basically it is 2 small buildings - one is the old school and the other is the log cabin they stayed in. Note that the log cabin was situated in main Tobermory ( on rent i believe )but was relocated when the landlord wanted his property back. It was brought to the current address and reconstructEd- nearly 50 years back. The main school building is full of relics and stuff you probably have never seen. It was actually a school back in the day - there is a bell outside which was rung to call kids into school. You need to go and see the history in that building as it's hard to explain. Old attendance registers along with cursive hand writing sheets are there for all to see. Not sure if they have heritage status as yet but seriously think that the appropriate authorities need to look into. The 2 ladies there were really knowledgeable and friendly - go see the appliances they have and how Canada managed back then. Parking is available on site and its free. We need to understand and appreciate the resilience of people from that age - how they learnt and adapted to the times. For example back then no corporates made butter - it was made in house using age old appliances and techniques. See the pictures I have posted and you will understand.”

“A wonderful view of both the Ottawa and Gatineau sides of the Ottawa River. At sunset this spot is particularly wonderful. The benches allow for some rest after the walk to get there, albeit short, and you can read some information about the surrounding area. Take a few nice pictures because the opportunities are plenty!”

“I highly recommend you visit the Parks Canada Visitor Centre. There is a lot to learn about Canadian geography and history where there is a museum. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They can provide valuable information about places to visit. Another piece of advice you will hear from them is "please don't litter the Parks". And I am repeating this advice since it is a big issue. Keep the Parks clean!!”

“Beautiful area and walking trails that lead to different look out points. The environment changed through out the hike. Water was beautiful. Parking was limited. Further into town we visited the lighthouse and paddle boarded to the sunken ship. We were able to swim and touch parts of the ship. Was a very cool experience!!”

“Ive done camping all my life. Last fall I went backcountry camping with some family. I knew I would love it but didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. We began on Smoke Lake and camped on Ragged Lake. The site we got was large and really private, we didn’t know where to look to find it at first. The weekend was stunning, temperatures were 10°C lows and 20°C highs, falls colours were out, plenty of fishing and canoeing around the lake. Can’t wait to do it again next year”

“A great place for a quiet walk to reconnect with nature. To find a place for quiet to think. So there are 2 boardwalks one this year is under construction so currently u can only go on the one. Where u will see different flowers and birds if u visit at different times of the year. At the end of the boardwalk in the trees there is a almost 1 km trail that brings you to Adelaide st where u get a great view of the water. To your left u can see Red Bay beach.”

“Unfortunately, the museum was closed when I visited. Bummer, right? But you know what, just being there, right by the old light keeper’s quarters, I could still feel the history. I wandered around outside, imagining what life would've been like for those keeping watch over the waters of Georgian Bay”

“If you love clocks and museums this is a place to see! This is a typical small town museum. An older gentleman runs it, when asked about being open, he went on to describe that if it’s close we should call the number and he will come from home and open it up. He had some much love for the place. As most small town museums, Explained a lot of history of the museum and about the different styles of clocks. How long are you going to spend there? If your the type to read and embrace everything, There is enough items to keep you busy for a couple hours. All in all, I recommend.”
