“We really loved our 2 night getaway here! Malcolm and Sharon were great hosts and we loved the amazing breakfasts delivered by them each morning. Malcolm graciously set up the outdoor fire pit so all we had to do is light it. We really loved sitting by the fire out in the cool winter evenings. Great to be close to downtown which we walked each evening for dinners. We were very close to the Banff springs and enjoyed snow shoeing on the golf course. We would definitely come back ! J & C”

“We stayed here as part of our trip in Canada. Great hotel staff very helpful. Rooms are great with fridge only small doubles but x2 in our room. Has elevator to rooms. Breakfast avaliable on a buffet basis but plenty of options and hot. Bar and restaurant on site. Is not in downtown Banff so a bit of a walk but you can get a daily bus ticket which has frequent stops and easy to use if less mobile a useful option. Would certainly recommend hotel.”

“Spent 4 nights here and will gladly spend many more here in the future. Only a few blocks away from downtown, and the rooms were spacious. But the most amazing part of this stay were Albert and Esther who made us feel at home from the beginning. Breakfast is worth ALL the hype you see in the reviews - we rushed home from seeing a sunrise because Albert's breakfast >>>>> most everything in life. They are both amazing hosts, guides, and people, and we will recommend all of our friends stay here if it's available.”

He served as Banff Centre's first director from 1933-1936, notably starting the venture in tandem with the Great Depression. His achievements, perseverance and charisma were recognized in 1972 with the naming of Corbett Hall in his honour, which later opened in May 1973.”

The Rundlestone Lodge

Address: 537 Banff Ave, Banff, AB T1L 1A6, Canada

Lodging Point of interest Establishment

“We recently stayed at the Rundlestone 5 nights and probably wouldn't stay there again. The location was good and the staff were exceptional but the hotel was outdated and in need of some TLC. Our room had holes in the wall where the hairdryer used to be, they have DVD players in each room, the restaurant was shut down, most of the vending machines were out of service, bathroom in the fitness center had an ashtray (1980's?), the pool and hot tub were clean but there was rust on the shower room floor and the plastic plants were sad looking. I found myself looking for other lodging as we explored Banff - in case we go again.”

“Came here for a conference and stayed 7 nights. Rooms are not super large, but very well equipped and designed to be functional and have all you need. Amazing views of the mountains with a huge window at the foot of the bed. Furniture and fittings were all very modern, stylish, and worked perfectly. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom/shower was bright and clean, and shower temperature was hot and with good water pressure. Room was cleaned well and bed made up everyday. Rest of the building is lovely and beautifully designed, with easy, mostly sheltered routes to Vistas Dining, and an underground sheltered route to the gym and sports facility which has a climbing gym, pool, cardio machines etc. Very convenient to the conference venues, but also just a short (and beautiful) walk into Banff town, 15 minutes max. Comes with coffee maker, TV, small fridge. My main wishes: (1) please add a kettle, as tea bags were provided, but there's no way to heat up water without using the coffee-maker; and (2) it would've been better if the shower had separate controls for temperature and how strong the water pressure was. You can basically only control temperature, the default water strength was very high and via a rain shower.”

“We spent only one short night there, but we were very impressed with this hotel. From the time we were greeted at the front desk, until the time we checked out, the staff here were all, super friendly. The hotel breakfast was great and well-serviced. The courtyard hot tubs were clean and relaxing. The bar service was fantastic. Our room was really nice as well. If we had to complain....our bathroom was small. But the bathroom was well-appointed. We had a great stay here and would definitely stay here again.”

“Came here in November 2017 for the Model United Nations Conference. This is before I became more active on google reviews. From my recollection, they have a really good continental breakfast that is well located right in the national park. It's not very close to the city center but the distance is walkable even in the winter. I felt surrounded by nature and truly was blessed to have experienced one of if not the most amazing national parks in the world. Banff holds a special place in my heart and this location is definitely part of the reason why. Also was the first time I saw the northern lights so definitely a treat of a spot.”

“We went for mother's day brunch. The service was fantastic. Our server was professional, yet fun. Any interaction with staff was outstanding. The food was pretty good with many options. I will likely not book a room here though, as the areas that we were in did not seem very clean, like the whole place needed a really good scrub.”

“Really loved the atmosphere here at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. From the friendly and accommodating staff to the lovely amenities. As soon as we got here we were welcomed, and asked if we needed anything. They even called to check in on us after we checked in late to make sure everything was running smoothly with our room. The room was very clean and everything was working. We had plush, clean robes in plastic ready for us in the closet, which we definitely used for the hot tub. They also had clean towels in the room next to the hot tub if you didn’t bring your robe. After a long day of hiking in Banff, we lit a fire in the fireplace in our room. Which was already set up and they even included matches and kindling to make starting a fire easier. Even tho the price was expensive for one night because of summer inflation. It was so worth it and everything exceeded our expectations. Including the morning breakfast at their restaurant on site called The Prow. Already planning our next trip here! Can’t wait!”

“Not completely in Banff town center but only a 5 min drive from the town center. Very comfortable beds! Clean and well maintained. Good service. Room layout not the best... would have been better to have the kitchen and dining and sitting near the main door and the bedrooms on the other side and a door for the upstairs bathroom. Otherwise good kitchen which is fairly well equipped if needed and very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of train noises at night.”

HI Banff Alpine Centre

“I'd stay again. V good value. The location is fine but not perfect. A 30min walk into town or there is a bus. They provide free bus passes too so not bad. The main thing is the rooms smell bad. Like stale sweat. They need to find better ways to air out their rooms. It made me almost gag on arrival. Also the men's basement bathroom has mould growing beside 1 of the toilets. But it's generally clean just seems like a general ventilation problem! Also the bar had loud bass and karaoke til 3am Saturday night heard from the rooms.”

Hidden Ridge Resort

“We had a great stay at Hidden Ridge! The outdoor heated pool/hot tub and sauna make this place worth the stay on their own. The lobby was decorated nicely for Christmas. We stayed in one of the lower level one bedroom condos and it fit our family 5 just fine. The location is great, you have unobstructed valley and mountain views with very little lights of town to distract from the view. It wasn’t busy when we were there so our kids had free reign in the heated pool while we relaxed in the hot tub. The only down side for me was the rooms are definitely dated, and weren’t the cleanest. I could see old food and dirt down the side of the stove and under the front, but it wasn’t a deal breaker by any means for me. The condo rooms were well equipped for preparing meals there, and a handful of places do offer free delivery up there too. All in all, very happy with our stay and we will be back!”

Banff Rocky Mountain Resort

“I had mixed feelings about staying here because of some of the reviews. However, we decided to give it a try. The front desk staff were very accommodating. The rooms were pretty comfortable really, like a pad of some sort, with all the basic requirements like a kitchen with utensils and cookware if you prefer to cook or heat up some food. There's a refrigerator and a dishwasher too. There's even an ironing board and an iron for clothes. I like the outdoor hot tub which is big enough to fit a dozen or so people. The water is just the right temperature especially that we went to Banff at -40 with the windchill, our hair was frozen but our bodies were so warm in the hot tub. Then there's the indoor pool which is big enough to do laps. And plenty of towels. The place seems a bit outdated and could get a little upgrade but it still does accommodate and is very cozy. It's about a 5 minute drive to downtown Banff which is really convenient. They also have a shuttle to downtown which runs in certain hours of the day, if you'd prefer not to drive. Considering the location, the amenities, the price, I would definitely be back to this place.”
