“Beautifully maintained gardens and worth the visit! It’s a very nice 15 minute walk from downtown. The walk up from Howard Street is great but a little rougher terrain.”

“This park is where I'd go if I wanted to just sit down and read a book and enjoy a coffee. You can't see what's inside the park until you enter through the gates. And enter a nice big green lawn and paths that lead you too various spaces in the park that used to be the filberg property now a municipal heritage site. There are many different types of trees and plants. And for sale to small bouquets. Various buildings to look around and explore but I was there when it was closed. There is a small outdoor restaurant right near the water and the view as you can see in the photo. I did see a couple of deer grazing. And heard many quacks. Very good for kids to explore during the day. There is a petting zoo!”

“We had a lovely stay at Rivers Edge Ranch. The host was friendly and accommodating. We got two spots backing on to the river with water and power hookups. The Highway runs along the length of the property so it could get a little noisy but the view was gorgeous. The river is clean and clear for swimming or wading. We put our chairs in the water and soaked our feet to keep cool. We had an RV so used our awning for shade. There are no trees though so bring a canopy or something if you’re renting. We enjoyed our time here a lot.”

“We stopped here as we really enjoy the BC Parks sites as they are basic, but affordable ($21). Each woodland pitch is private and has the usual picnic table and firepit (wood purchased on site). It has pit loos dotted around the site, which were well stocked. It closes for the season in a few days time and there was plenty of space. There was loads of small wildlife around and we saw our first Pileated Woodpecker. The thing which amazed us was the wide array of mushrooms which were stunning. Great site and with 2 gas stations, a fab soap store and a just closed ice cream store make for a great visit a little earlier in the year too.”

“Great little find. Excellent for Sunrise or Star gazing. 72 Steps on a nice rise, gets your heart pumping if you run it. Beach is rocky, but gets tidal pool's. Continue down the dirt road to the end. A short walk trail.”

“Calling this a park is a bit of a stretch, it's better described as a wooded cut through from Loxley to Sea terrace.”

“The art show has gotten so good. The trails surrounding the property are beautiful. It's heaven here”

“The trails are great. It’s a huge forest just for a walk. There is a field for your dogs to run around on, as long as there isn’t a baseball game going on. I just wish there were even more people walking through them because my dogs are very sociable, with other dogs and people. (Watch out for snakes and bears!) have a good walk!”

“Churn Creek Protected Area is an awesome place to go. It's very wild, very quiet, and you get to see landscapes and ecosystems that are unusual for Canada. From Vancouver, it takes a while to get to, but it feels like an adventure. I want to return really badly to hike for a couple of days.”

“Remote wild. Snow summer. Didint meet one person in 3 days - and that on a weekend in July. Beautiful weather. Follow the cut logs if in doubt (not the white hare).”

“The small wood bridge that has a creek under it. This creek is a salmon habitat. You can protect it by not letting your dogs run through it. The sign is not in the best location so that is why I thought this might be helpful. A nice trail beside a creek surrounded by trees. Ocean views of the ocean with some drift logs.”

“Staying at Roland’s place is one of the best experiences I ever had. Roland and Udete are fantastic hosts. But what is more important: They live a lifestyle that really makes you rethink many things. Sustainable off-grid living at its best. Unfortunately we only had 3 nights at this place. One week would make more sense. There are chipmunks, squirrels, herons and other animals on the property. If you are used to walking in the nature there are also very nice walks. I hope this beautiful place remains as it is. We will revisit if we can. Regarding the road: I would personally recommend and SUV to get there (or real 4x4). If you want the real chilcotlin experience: Stay here!”

“Wish I found out about Ridgeview Resort sooner!!! What a beautiful place to spend a relaxing vacation! We booked vacation home #60 for 4 nights in late September. The staff was amazing and the facilities were fantastic! This resort has it all and the activities never stop. The Rec Centre has a banquet room, games room, library, movie room, clean pool and a hot tub that is nice and toasty hot! We will be coming back next summer!! The house was amazing and was huge!! It really felt like a home and had everything you would need to bake cookies or a cake and even had a Turkey roaster! This is an ideal place to spend the holidays with family! We had an amazing experience and can’t wait to go back! Definitely check out their website!”

“We rented the sheltered picnic area for a summer party & appreciated how clean & spacious it was with lots of picnic tables. The ocean view was superb & close to the beach. This is a very popular recreational fishing spot with a convenient boat launch nearby. It is possible to see whales & other sea life in these waters. The restrooms were clean & there was plenty of parking for our group as well as other visitors. We would definitely come here again!”

“It's perfect down here. Connects to another park and both go down to the water and you can do a loop down one side and back up to your car the other way. So many birds: saw cassin's vireo and ruby crowned kinglets, purple martins by the water, lots of rufous hummingbirds by the thick groves of salmonberry and wild currants. Lots of little bridges and boardwalks interspersed.”

“The motel is very convenient to shops and restaurants, the rooms are huge and clean. The owner, Julie, is very kind and easy to deal with. When Highway 4 had a closure, we had nowhere to go as all the hotels were booked solid; Julie gave us a room for the night. Thank you, Julie, for your kindness!”
